Bioponic Phytoceuticals has announced that its Curecumin (a Bioresonant Phytotherapeutic form of Turmeric containing curcumin in a liquid nasal delivery system) may be an important treatment for Lung Cancer.

In a recent study published in Science Direct, “Induction of Apoptosis in Human Lung Cancer Cells by Curcumin,” conducted at the Department of Medicine, Pediatrics and Family and Preventive Medicine, School of Medicine, University of California, San Diego, scientists concluded, “Curcumin, a phenolic compound from the rhizome of the plant Curcuma longa has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-cancer activities…

This study investigated the cellular and molecular changes induced by curcumin leading to the induction of apoptosis in human lung cancer cell lines — A549 and H1299… Curcumin inhibited the growth of both the cell lines in a concentration dependent manner… Curcumin induced apoptosis in both the lung cancer cell lines.”

“We are particularly interested in the potential of our Curecumin(TM) product to provide a viable treatment strategy for those with lung cancer. Especially, because the liquid form of Curecumin, in a nasal delivery system, will send the formula directly to the lungs. If proven effective, we may have an efficacious, cost effective, natural treatment for lung cancer sufferers.” said Steven M. Schorr, Chairman & CEO — Bioponic Phytoceuticals, Inc.

Bioponic Phytoceuticals Treats Malaria in Africa

Thursday, December 27, 2007MW Logo

FSEvery year at about this time, the great-gifts-for-travelers lists come out. And every year, I dream of being able to justify splurging on one or more of those items--the Bose noise-cancellation headphones, the cashmere blankie, the luscious leather satchel or maybe a year's worth of airport lounge access.

But I’m happy to say that it's still possible to treat yourself (and your traveling friends, colleagues and loved ones) to wonderful swag that’s actually affordable. Here are some of my favorites, all for less than $25:

Flight Spray. You may be taken aback if someone gives you nasal spray as a gift, but for road warriors who've experienced the unpleasant consequences of dehydration, it's actually quite thoughtful. The spray not only relieves symptoms but can also help prevent colds--and it soothes if you’re flying when you already have a cold or congestion. This spray is all-natural, made from turmeric root (an anti-bacterial, anti-fungal agent), spearmint (a natural antiseptic) and purified water. The 1-ounce spray bottle is small enough to pass TSA rules about onboard liquids. $14.85 from Magellans.com.

Guineans get free malaria drugs

afrol News, 16 November -Afrol Logo

A new malaria treatment [Curemisinin] is being disseminated free-of-charge in clinics located in the Guinean capital Conakry, Bioponic Phytoceuticals announced.

Curemisinin (TM), an all-natural anti-malaria product that is based on three proven effective anti-malaria herbs: Artemesia, Turmeric and Cinchona Bark, is launched by Bioponic Phytoceuticals.

Bioponic is focused on the production of natural products that are used to promote health and well-being and its binary product comprises a nasal spray [Curemisinin A] with an oral spray [Curemisinin B] to treat malaria in the quickest, most effective manner.

The efficacy of Curemisinin will be recorded, and provide valuable data over the next several weeks on the product's ability to treat malaria in humans.

The Chairman and CEO of Bioponic, Steven Schorr said, "Curemisinin's use of a nasal delivery system allows the bioresonant liquid remedy to be delivered directly to the brain via the nasal membrane. This may have a significant impact on cerebral malaria, a condition primarily affecting children, who die within 24 to 7 hours without treatment.

Biponic not only hopes to stop the track of cerebral malaria, but potentially help bring down the cost of treatment and increase the efficacy of treatments for all types of malaria, especially resistant strains of the disease."

Caused by a blood parasite transmitted by mosquitoes, malaria has become the number one killer disease in sub-Saharan Africa. Every year, malaria kills more than a million people worldwide, majority of its victims being African children.

As evolving pathogens develop widespread resistance to over-prescribed antibiotics, anti-virals and antimalarial drugs, the use of natural medicines is being recommended for their proven efficacy in the treatment of vast malaria problem.

Curecumin: possible role in prostate cancer
Marketletter - Mar. 26, 2007
Curecumin
Hawaii, USA-based Bioponic Phytoceuticals says that Curecumin, its bioresonant phytotherapeutic formulation of curcumin, may be an important treatment for prostate cancer.

According to the firm, curcumin, which is a turmeric root extract, has been shown to possess activity in the treatment and prevention of cancer, multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer's disease. While the molecular mechanism for its anticancer effect is largely unknown, it is thought to inhibit the synthesis of MDM2, an oncoprotein known to bind p53 and modulate p21 expression, said Bioponic.

In the March 1 issue of Cancer Research, researchers from the University of Alabama reported results for curcumin in a preclinical prostate cancer model. They found that the agent decreased mRNA and protein expression of the MDM2 oncoprotein and enhanced the expression of tumor modulator p21, pointing to a potential role for Curcumin in prostate cancer, a condition which affects an estimated one in six Americans.

"We are particularly interested in the potential of our Curecumin product to provide a viable treatment strategy for those with prostate cancer. If proven effective, we may have an efficacious, cost effective, natural treatment for prostate cancer sufferers," said Steven Schorr, chief executive of Bioponic Phytoceuticals.

Allegra Fasnacht for Maui Weekly

Maui Week logo

Even if you can’t pronounce it, you should know what it is. What does it take to become one of the largest companies on Maui? For Steven Schorr, it took six greenhouses, 15 employees, and a 6,000-year-old idea. Schorr is chairman and CEO of Bioponic Phytoceuticals, a $43 million company that was the first from Maui to go public in 37 years (since Maui Land & Pine in 1969). The company has created a revolutionary technique using distillation, the evaporation and subsequent collection of a liquid by condensation as a means of purification. Simply put, liquid is heated, becomes vapor, cold water is added, and purified water is the result. This produces unique, exotic alternative medicines for ailments large and small.

He and the vice-president, his son Hamiel, are still trying to get the word out about who they are and what they do. “Our marketing plan is global,” said Schorr, referring to their recent partnership with Amazon.com, “but I really hope that Maui takes an interest. Our products are steeped in Hawaiiana, from our raw materials to our medicinal point of view.”

Schorr said his greatest influence on Maui was the late Auntie Mahi Poe Poe, a kupuna raised in the old Hawaiian tradition and, as Schorr tells it, a visionary. “She came to my door, and said that a kupuna came to her in her dreams to say that she had to work with me,” he said. In 2003, they created a line of Auntie Mahi Poe Poe la‘au lapa‘au tonics together, and Schorr provided thousands of bottles to her clinics for free.

Maui company goes public

Maui company goes public Monday, June 19, 2006, was Bioponic Phytoceuticals Day “throughout Maui County,” according to a proclamation by Mayor Alan Arakawa. On that day, Bioponic Phytoceuticals, a local biotech company producing natural remedies and supplements, began public trading. This is an extremely rare event for a Maui entity. Several of the company’s products—including Flight Spray, O Spray and several lines of remedies based on traditional Hawaiian la‘au lapa‘au medicine—have gained broad national exposure and celebrity endorsements. However, it will be public trading, not just product promotion, that will launch the innovative organization into its next major phase of developmental growth. As the stock shows up in the market, it will be trading under the stock-market symbol BPYT.
